Trees of Athens

In such a busy city, the rich smell of pine and cypress with the sound of wind rustling through olive trees is an oasis.

In the background is the Pnyx Hill, the very spot where democracy was born.

Peeking above the pine trees is The Temple of Athena Nike on the Acropolis rock.

Strange to imagine today, but it’s been said that Ancient Athenians were extremely proud of their air quality .

Perhaps the air of ancient Athens still lingers in these miniature forest and we are two steps closer to walking hand in hand with the ancients.
